Webinar: Flood Insurance - What You Need to Know
Webinar: Flood Insurance - What You Need to Know
When: Thursday, February 16 | 2 p.m.
Where: Via Zoom
In this session, we will discuss what you need to know about what is happening in the flood insurance marketplace and how to navigate it from NFIP to private markets.
Presented by Matthew Romano, Vice President of Flood, Monarch E&S Insurance Services a division of SPG Insurance Solutions
At the beginning of Matt Romano’s career, he realized he should have a single focus and become as knowledgeable in that one sector as possible, he chose flood with an opportunity to work for a flood consulting company. There he worked with some of the top real estate companies in the US helping them understand their flood risk. He worked with them to mitigate their flood risk and worked with their retail agents on the best way to position the risk for submissions to the flood markets.
Having that knowledge Matt decided to move to the wholesale side of the insurance business specializing in a flood where he has become one of the leaders in the industry. He has been named IBA’s specialist of the year for multiple years. He made this move as he saw the private flood markets emerging. He worked with the retailers helping them understand how this new way of placing flood would help their insureds in many situations with coverage that was more broad and efficient than what they had in the past with the National Flood Insurance Program.
In addition to working with retailers, Matt has worked with MGUs, MGAs, and carriers helping them develop products that are a fit to what is needed in the flood marketplace as well as making sure their policy forms are bank compliant.
Matt continues to work on better ways to assist retailers in placing hard-to-place flood risks as natural catastrophes unfortunately have become a more regular occurrence.
