Established in 2015, the IBANY Emerging Leader member-benefit program recognizes New York Metro rising stars in the insurance industry. Those whose records reflect ongoing and exceptional growth in contribution to the profession and increasing levels of leadership and responsibility. Each IBANY member company has the opportunity to identify an Emerging Leader using a process that fits its own corporate culture and submit their choice to IBANY to be honored at our biennial Emerging Leader Celebration, usually held in June.
Emerging Leaders must be an employee of an IBANY member organization, be 40 or under with a minimum of three and a maximum of 15 years as an insurance industry professional, and may not yet be a senior-level officer of the organization. Emerging Leaders receive:
- Complimentary tickets for themselves and a guest to attend the Emerging Leader Celebration
- Public recognition at all IBANY events throughout ensuing year
- Recognition on the IBANY website, e-communications and social media
- IBANY Emerging Leader trophy
From among the Emerging Leaders chosen by our member companies, the IBANY Board of Directors selects one from each member category to designate at an IBANY Emerging Leader of the Year. They do so in a blind process, reviewing the materials submitted by each company with all identifying information redacted. The consider each Emerging Leaders achievements, growth in professional stature and accomplishments and rank their top three in each member category. The rankings are assigned weighted points values and the individual achieving the highest score in each member category is names an IBANY Emerging Leader of the Year.
IBANY Emerging Leaders of the Year are announced at the biennial Emerging Leader Celebration and receive:
- IBANY Emerging Leader of the Year Tiffany-Crystal trophy
- Complimentary registration for to all IBANY programs for the ensuing year.

The next class of Emerging Leaders will be named in 2026. The process for identifying that class will begin in December 2025 with each member company designating an individual from their firm to serve as its Emerging Leader program contact.
IBANY member companys may identify one IBANY Emerging Leader and may establish its own process for identifying its IBANY Emerging Leader designee. The primary contact may provide whatever materials they wish to summarize the nominee's achievements, growth in professional stature and accomplishments in sufficient detail, to document why this individual should be recognized as one of IBANY’s Emerging Leaders of the Year. Nominations should contain sufficient information to facilitate the selection process without additional research being required. The contact may submit resumes, press clippings, letters of recommendation or any other information they feel should be considered. Please note that none of these additional documents are required. The contact information form and any supplemental information submitted by the nominator will be the only factors considered in the selection process. The IBANY board will conduct an anonymous vote to select the three Emerging Leaders of the Year. Only the IBANY association manager will be privy to the results of this vote prior to the presentation of the awards.
